How to choose the moment worth clipping

Most of a long video only makes sense in context. The few moments that stand on their own are the ones worth turning into a Short.

Look for a complete idea

A good clip makes one point and finishes it: a strong opinion, a surprising fact, a short story with an ending, a question and its answer. If you need to explain what happened before, it is probably not the right moment.

A quick test: describe the clip in one sentence without saying "in this video". If you can, it works on its own.

Start on the hook

People decide in the first second or two whether to keep watching. Start the clip on the sentence that makes them curious, not on the greeting or the build-up before it. It is fine to begin mid-conversation if the first words carry the idea.

In ClipSprint you can nudge the start by a tenth of a second, so you can cut right before the first word instead of leaving a breath or a pause in front of it.

End when the idea lands

Stop as soon as the point is made. A clip that trails into the next topic loses people in its last seconds, and those seconds count when a platform decides whether to show it to more viewers. Use Preview clip to watch just the part you marked before you export.

Make several and compare

One video usually holds more than one good moment. Export two or three short clips instead of one long one, post them on different days and keep what works. Your clips stay next to the video, ready to download again.
