Turn a YouTube video into Shorts

A long video usually has a handful of moments that work on their own. ClipSprint lets you pull one out and turn it into a vertical clip without downloading the video, opening an editor or waiting in a queue.

How to do it

  1. Paste the link

Paste the URL of your YouTube video. It opens in your browser straight away.

  2. Choose the moment

Slide the clip along the timeline and set its length, from 10 seconds to 1 minute on Free or up to 3 minutes on paid plans.

  3. Frame it for vertical

Pick 9:16 and drag the frame over the part of the picture that matters, or keep the whole frame over a blurred background.

  4. Export

Download the finished MP4 and upload it to Shorts, TikTok or Reels.

Why a clip, and not the whole video

Vertical feeds reward short pieces that make sense without context. A clip that starts right on the interesting sentence and ends when the idea is complete does far better than a trimmed copy of the first minute. That is why ClipSprint leaves the choice of moment to you: you know your video, and choosing it yourself takes seconds.

Vertical without losing the subject

A 16:9 video does not fit a 9:16 screen. You can crop to the area that matters and move the frame over it, zooming in up to 3× if the subject is small. If cropping would cut something important, keep the whole picture and let ClipSprint fill the rest with a blurred copy of it.

Ready for every platform

Clips are exported as MP4 in 9:16, at up to 720p on the Free plan and up to 1080p on paid plans, never above the resolution of the original, with the audio levelled so it does not sound quieter than the clips around it.

Questions

How long can a Short made this way be?

A clip can run from 10 seconds to 1 minute on the Free plan, and up to 3 minutes on paid plans, which covers the length Shorts, TikTok and Reels accept for most accounts.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything happens in the browser and the only file you download is the finished clip.

Can I use any YouTube video?

ClipSprint is meant for your own content. When you load a video you confirm that it is yours or that you have the rights to reuse it.
